Students at MHS are interested in taking the VTA (Valley Transportation Authority). The VTA is both a bus and train system. It can take people anywhere in the county. It is also eco-friendly.
People need money to pay for a train ride.
Adam Herald, vocational specialist, recently led a field trip to explore the VTA with students.
He noted that the VTA can be really helpful for students.
“The VTA can take people anywhere in the county depending on where they want to go, whether it be by bus or train,” said Herald.
Mr. Herald shared that students can learn to take the VTA.
“Finding a bus stop, getting on, paying the fare, getting off where you want to–we had youth representatives from VTA come to the school to give a presentation on how to use it,” said Herald.
Alexander Sanchez, a senior at MHS described how easy it is.
“You have to buy a ticket and wait for it to get here, when it stops you get on and relax, ” said Sanchez.
Daris Music, a junior at MHS, enjoys using the VTA.
“Whenever we like to, we like to go to the movie theaters when I’m interested in watching. When I’m a big fan of the movie I like watching I would go to the one in Great Mall because they have a very good pizza over,” said Music.
Students need to consider some important factors when taking the VTA.
“It’s important that everyone learns to ride the VTA at some point and they use it at least once to see it. I get that it’s not for everybody and it’s not for every trip but I think understanding how to use it to go places is definitely an important thing to consider just like any public transportation.” said Herald.
