Ever since hot chocolate was first created centuries ago in Ecuador, it has always been a sweet treat. From being drunk cold and with cocoa and spices to adding sugar and making it warm in the 1500’s it became the drink for the wealthy. Now in the present day hot chocolate is viewed as a warm comfort drink that people drink around the world in their own way. In America we usually drink it with water or milk and with marshmallows.
They started putting water in hot chocolate in Mexico in 1700 BCE. To them at the time they thought of this as a prized drink that was a luxury until it was later changed into the Europe versions which they added sugar and milk and has turned into the modern day hot
chocolate, but some people still use the old ways.
The most common way hot chocolate is made in the modern time is with milk. While asking Kathleen Macdonald high school students, Diego Tellez a senior and Golf Captain said, “I don’t like it i prefer milk because i feel like the texture is more delectable” when asked about how he feels about water hot chocolate. When asked why Tellez said, “I feel like my mom always has made it with milk instead of water my whole life.” which refers to why he prefers milk over water.”
In conclusion, hot chocolate made with water was the original luxury, but in modern day people find it way better when it is made with milk and is more commonly made at home with milk than water. Although a lot of coffee places make hot chocolate with water as it is cheaper but because it’s cheaper doesn’t make it better. Either way hot chocolate is made in a variety of different ways around the world and people enjoy it the way they like it.
