To wrap up this remarkable school year in sports, The Kathleen MacDonald baseball team won its first-ever high school Senior Night game this past Tuesday in suspenseful fashion.
After an unpredictable season filled with ups and downs, the Condors defeated Saratoga High School at home, earning their third win of the season and making history by winning their first-ever Senior Night game.
The stands were packed with supporters and family members cheering on the team. Both the coaches and players felt the impact of the support, which fueled the team’s energy and ultimately helped lead them to victory.
With the game on the line in extra innings, sophomore Xzavier Segovia delivered a walk-off ground ball to first base, allowing fellow sophomore Carlos Lujan to score the winning run from third. After celebrating together as a team, seniors Connor Roberts, Caleb Fish, and Pablo Guzman were interviewed by local reporter Andrew Bensch, from The Silicon Valley Voice. Roberts was later drenched with water and Gatorade by his teammates as they celebrated the unforgettable win and sent him off into his college career in style.
Senior Caleb Fish said, “Even with how our season ended up, we would still beat those guys again.”
“I’m excited for our underclassmen since they show a lot of potential. They’re learning very quickly, and I can’t wait to see how they do next year.”
Senior Pablo Guzman said, “It was exciting to show out to my fans and show them that I’m a demon.”
Senior Andrew Martin said, “He’s been playing baseball since he was 5 years old and is prepared to take it to the next level.”
Although the team was emotional about the seniors graduating, they were proud of the performance they delivered and excited for the future of the program. Talented young players like Patrick Cooper, Xzavier Segovia, Jonathan Adame, and Ayden Tran look ready to dominate the league for years to come.
