Are Classrooms Too Cold?

Have you ever thought, “Whoa, it’s cold in here!”? Students at MacDonald High School have voiced complaints about the temperature of their classrooms throughout the recent school years, commenting on the blasting ACs and the drastic temperature changes from being inside to going outside.

Out of 53 anonymous responses, approximately 23% of students said that classroom temperatures are fine. However, over 50% of the students said that they sometimes feel extremely cold, saying that it is bothersome when choosing what to wear to school and being comfortable in some of their classrooms.

When asked to put a scale from 1-10, with super cold being 1, 18.5 % of students answered levels 3 and 5, leaning more towards the classroom being too cold. Select students’ responses said they were “getting goosebumps” and “feeling weird” when going from hot to cold classrooms. The temperature of these classrooms is a daily issue.
